supporting a major Burlington high school building upgrade

Proposed High School

Slide the white bar left and right to see before and after views of the high school.

The proposed renovation and  new structure is the result of extensive community meetings and work by the project committee.

Below are the key reasons this direction was chosen:

  • It was decided that it was essential to preserve the most functional portions of the existing building (gyms & auditorium & upper area with BCAT) thus saving money.
  • The project creates all-new academic areas, including state-of-the-art science labs and windows for all classrooms.
  • The building will have a new HVAC system, rather than waiting for the current one to fail and being caught having to pay nearly $300M to do required repairs to keep the same old school.
  • 100% Americans with Disabilities Act accessible
  • An up-to-code fire system
  • Improved traffic circulation for both school and community uses like the Auditorium
  • Renovated Gyms, Auditorium, Early Childhood Center (relocated) and BCAT
  • This plan does not require students to learn in modulars during the construction process
